One of my favorite groups coming out of South Korea, the pairing of Jflow and Sep (aka Hippy Was Gipsy) brings fans of their music something just a little bit different. Where their debut, “Tree,” pulled from several classical elements (jazz, ’90s hip-hop conventions a la De La Soul and ATCQ, etc.), and “Language” expounded on the airiness of their sound, “0” full embraces the airiness and, in fact, gives us more a ambient alternative than jazz-infused R&B/hip hop. This finds Hippy Was Gipsy going much in the same way that Nuz did. Of course, there’s not a thing wrong with that. There’s so much depth and yearning here. All of it further opening the duo up emotionally. And I’m 100 percent here for it.
