2020 was definitely the year for jazz live albums. I’m ashamed I didn’t know Yussef Dayes before I listened to this album. Because this is a piece of magic I was truly not expecting. The drummer/composer really is a magician. Another of the new class of jazz musicians who find a strong connection to contemporary methodology to coincide with their jazz roots. With an artist like Dayes, the genre remains current and at times futuristic. This night in Copenhagen was a real treat. A stellar combination of old and new that just made me excited to be a fan of the genre.
